Sunday & Strawberries

Yesterday wasn't the beautiful day you would think of in terms of beautiful.  Sunny, warm, slight breeze & gorgeous.  However, it was still beautiful in spite of the gray & damp weather.

We started the morning off by going to church & the plan was to meet up with my mom after church and head to a local strawberry festival.  I wasn't sure if it would work out since it seemed like it could downpour at any second.  We decided to brave the weather anyway.  It's only 10 minutes from the house so the worst that would happen is we drove home.

So, we get there & walk around the farm market & then find out we have to get down to the strawberry patch for the picking & face painting.  So we hop on a wagon filled with hay (the smell was delicious..I just love fresh hay) and down we go to the strawberry patch.

The kids had to have their face painted...of course.

Then we went to check out the old fire engine.

After that we started picking.  Unfortunately it was pretty well picked clean, however we were able to find some pretty nice berries after some hunting!

What would be a strawberry festival without homemade ice cream?!  Afton picked moose tracks in a dish, Caleb picked vanilla on a cone, my mom picked kahlua chip on a sugar cone & I chose black raspberry.  It was so good!

We finished the day with some pictures & a group shot & then off we went to get warm in the van...brrr!

So it was a great day.  Beautiful in every way except the weather which didn't hold us back at all!

Now I have to get some desserts & jelly made before we devour the strawberries!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
