My favorite comic at the moment is Baby Blues. It's so true to life it's not even funny, well, it is, except....oh, never mind....here's the comic...and have a great weekend! (click on the comic to see it up close)
We have Afton's family birthday part tomorrow, so I should have more pictures for you by Monday. Mike is making her ice cream cake, so I'm really excited to see how it turns out. If the ingredients are any indication it's gonna be tasty!!!
He also took over planning her party, so I'm pretty impressed! Good job, honey!
I don't know about you, but I am so excited for the long weekend! Not to say I'll be sitting around eating bonbons, one could only dream!
No....this weekend will be busy, just without the normal work schedule.
Just to recap a bit...
Afton was with my mom for a few days this week which was good for the both of us. She was the center of attention for a bit (which is good...and bad) and I was able to regroup. The past month has been a little harder on us just because of the age and stage the kids are at. I love being a mom, but parenting is the hardest job in the world!!!!! I've been very consistent in teaching and training the kids and I was definitely feeling it this month. So, the few days she was away was a time to refocus and really pray about how I am parenting.
I picked her up on Wednesday afternoon, but in the two days leading up to it I was praying really hard that the transition would be as smooth as possible. I expected some bumps, but I was praying God would work on my patience and understanding, as well as Afton's attitude and adjusting to "home life". Guess what!? He did... We had one or two issues, but for the most part everything has been great! Praise God for that!
I did realize that when Afton isn't here there is a flurry of excitement missing! The busyness, the bouncing from one thing to the next, the energy, the endless questions and chatting. Oh yeah...there is also less mess to pick up! I didn't realize how much of a mess she leaves in her wake! Honestly...that child can do some serious damage to a room, any room!
It is nice to have her home though! We missed her a lot and it made me realize how quickly she is growing up and how much I need to treasure her at the place she is in her life! She is so precious! I can't believe I've been blessed with such wonderful children!
I'm hoping that we have a little bit of time on Saturday to relax as a family. Miya is with us this weekend (YAY!!!) so that is awesome! Sunday we're going to visit extended family and then Monday we have been invited to a cookout with some friends! All in all, a busy, family and friend filled weekend!
Enjoy your Friday (and loooong weekend if I don't "chat" with you)
Hopefully I'll have some cool pictures to post from this weekend.
I realized I need to add more photos to my posts to keep things interesting, so lets see what I can come up with....
(my sister took this picture and then sent it to me...smart girl...how'd she know?)
Friday's are the hardest days for me. So, today I am praying for wisdom, patience, understanding, kindness, love and gentleness with my children.
It's the end of a long week. Up early every day and going to bed not as early as I would like (or need).
I read somewhere once, "When you are a mother, every day is Monday." How true that is! While I look forward to the weekends I haven't been able to figure out all the reasons why. I don't get to sleep in, I hit the floor running since my kids are early risers, I follow the same routine as I do during the week, and I'm still just as tired by the end of the day. So, really nothing changes for me except that I don't have to sign in to work at 12:00 (which is nice).
Tomorrow I have plans to go meet up with a friend of mine. She lives about an hour and a half away and there is a consignment store near her that is holding their bi-annual bag sale! They have almost new clothes, mostly brand name, and at a GREAT deal! So, I'm very excited for that. I'll be able to get out of the house for a while and daddy and the kids can "bond"! I never realized how much I would love driving until I started working from home. Now I love the quiet rides, or not quiet depending on if I crank the tunes! Plus, it makes me that much more excited to be home later on!
Children are beckoning me and so is my cold coffee!
Don't forget to keep praying for Tricia and Nate! Tricia's surgery was successful, but now the healing process begins. Pray for her strength and her body's ability to accept the new lungs. Pray for Nate as he is obviously by her side constantly which leads to not a lot of rest. Pray for Gwyneth and her continued growth so she will be well enough to leave the hospital and go home with her parents!!! Please click here to read their amazing story of faith!
I'll be back later with a fresh cup of hot coffee!
